N.B. Medicare Applications Can Now Be Done Online

The Government of New Brunswick says residents can now submit applications for their medicare cards through an online platform.

Health Minister Bruce Fitch said improving access to primary care is a pillar of New Brunswick’s health plan, adding that he is pleased to see this new option come online.

“We have discovered new ways of working over the last few years, harnessing technology like never before,” he said.

“I am certain these new ways will continue having a ripple effect in the community.”

Officials say there are certain criteria in order to apply for New Brunswick medicare coverage. Applicants must live in New Brunswick be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or be an international student.

The province says it takes up to six weeks for applications to process.

Government says anyone who already submitted an application by mail, email or in person at a Service New Brunswick centre should not submit a duplicate application online.
